DUBLIN BAY KISH BANK LIGHTHOUSE

Project Description:

This project comprised of the renovation of the stainless steel edge protection and access system to a roof top helipad on the offshore Kish Bank lighthouse. The new structure comprised of bespoke stainless steel members to support a welded mesh fall-arrest system off an existing concrete roof slab. The frame had an overhang of 4 meters, at a height of 29m above sea level. LCE undertook the lead contractors designer role for this unique and challenging offshore project.

Scope Description:

  • Stainless steel frame design

  • 3D Finite Element Analysis of new connections

  • Structural modelling of the support arms, baskets, ladders, equipment supports, and associated steel structures

  • Development of bespoke fall-arrest system

  • Analysis of existing historic in-situ roof slab

  • Ancillary Certifier services
